Giving Golf for Father's Day

As Father’s Day, June 20, approaches, many families are still pondering what to give to Dad. The answer to this often-stressful question comes from an unexpected source, the Newtown Square Fire Company. Their answer does not focus on a personal visit by apparatus and firefighters. That kind of gift is a common gift for younger family members. The Newtown Square’s answer is to give golf for Father’s Day.
This special and unusual gift can be for one recipient or a collection of four “fathers” to create a collaborative “foursome” treat. This gift will enable the favorite family golfer to participate in the Newtown Square Fire Company’s Second Annual Golf Outing on Thursday, July 22. ‘
Returning to the Edgmont Country Club after last year’s successful inaugural outing, this gift will provide greens fees, cart, driving range, locker room and both lunch and dinner. Echoing last year’s incentive, some skillful or lucky golfer may win a car with a hole-in-one on a designated Edgmont hole. This year’s prize is a Porsche.
In discussing this test of skill, Golf Outing coordinator Josh Potter added, “There is a second test for golfers. In addition to the automobile, there will also be another hole-in-one contest. A winner of this ‘happening’ will win $10,000.”
Recipients of a fun-filled Father’s Day gift of golf will join others for an 11:30 a.m. lunch at Edgmont. This will be followed by a 1 p.m., Shotgun Start – Scramble Format day of golf. The day of golf is capped with an Edgmont dinner and awards presentation.
Registration is simple. The Newtown Square Fire Company provides online registration in two ways. Registration may be accomplished by mail at the Newtown Square Fire Company Golf Outing, PO Box 453, Newtown Square, PA 19073.
