June 19, 1957

A little over a year after the devastating fire that burned down the Marple Newtown High School, (now the Gauntlet Center), members of the Newtown Square fire Company responded to a fire at new high school (present day location) that was under construction.

Members are shown in action as a roofing tar fire threatened the new high school presently under construction. The fire was close to a large 4000 gallon tar tank truck as well as a tank of propane gas. Damage was confined to outside smoke smudges, and possible heat damage to the auditorium wall. The location of the fire was at current day Crew Parking behind the stage door exits.
