T ’was the night before Christmas and the Newtown Square Fire Company was dispatched to a reported accident with injuries on Church Road between Darby Paoli Road and Valley Forge Road. Before the arrival of emergency personnel, additional calls from the scene reported a head-on collision and requested at least two ambulances. Crews arrived with Radnor Township and Newtown Township Police on location, as the accident straddled both towns.

Working with Police, Incident Command Harry Robinson requested three more Ambulances. Radnor Ambulance was already in-service providing care to an unconscious person at a different unrelated location. Radnor’s Medic 15 arrived and established Medical Command and triaged / prioritized patients for transport to different local hospitals. Crews from Newtown Square assisted with patient care, traffic control and scene safety, including lighting and clearing debris from the area.

Assisting units included Radnor Medic 15, Berwyn Ambulance with two units, Riddle Hospital Medic 104 and Haverford / Narberth Medic 108.

Radnor Police will be investigating the accident. The road was cleared within the hour.
