Each week, we want to take some time to recognize our volunteers who dedicate their time to the Newtown Square Fire Company.
Next up- Doug Simpson!
Doug joined as a member in December of 1989. Since joining Doug has served as Chief, Deputy, Captain, Lieutenant, and is currently the 1st Vice President.
Doug decided to volunteer because of family and friend, to help the community, and career aspects.
Outside of the fire company, Doug is a Career Lieutenant Firefighter/Paramedic with Berwyn Fire Company. He is also a Flight Paramedic with PennSTAR (Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania).
While Doug had too many favorite firehouse memories to name, he would say to anyone who is considering becoming a volunteer, “Follow your dreams! No greater feeling then help others in their most serious of times.”
